The Kyogle Readers and Writers (KraW) is a community-led organisation whose ambition is to promote and support reading and writing in the Kyogle district.
We intend to achieve our ambition through holding the biannual Kyogle Readers and Writers Festival (formerly the Kyogle Writers Festival). The next festival will be held in 2024.
This year, 2023, we held a much smaller event, Literary Allsorts on June 3rd.
Kyogle Readers and Writers is membership based, enhancing our connections to the community and building our capacity through the sharing of skills.
We hold other events across the year that celebrate the written and spoken word: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, podcasting, blogging and graphic novels to name a few. We hope to present author talks, poetry readings, workshops and other activities and events that will give readers and writers more opportunities to come together and share ideas and stories.
We look forward to seeing you at our events across the year. If you feel like coming on board as a member, we’d love to have you.

It’s emerged from its chrysalis as the Kyogle Readers and Writers Festival and will now be biannual. This is to try and avoid burnout in our hard-working volunteer committees.
KRaW is administered by a voluntary, interim committee and we intend to hold our first Annual General Meeting in December, when all committee positions will become vacant.

Up until the formation of KRaW, Kyogle Writers Festival had been organised by a sub-committee of Kyogle and District Arts Council (KDAC). KDAC had very kindly provided us with an organisational ‘home’ as well as auspicing our grant applications. We are very much grateful for their generosity and support over the past couple of years.
But it’s now time for us to forge ahead as our own independent organisation.
We wanted the name of our organisation to be pithy, clearly associated with Kyogle, and for it to recognise that readers are equally as important as writers. The organisation will be open to new members in the coming weeks, we’d love to have you onboard.
We will have an expression of interest form online in the coming weeks. Email it to our Creative Director Paul @ hello@kraw.com.au and he will get back to you in due course.
