Community performance aimed to engage our regional and remote youth to find their voice.
Introducing: Poetry in Action
Empowering Youth Through Poetry”
As a response to the need for accessible and empowering educational opportunities for young people in the Kyogle Council area, we would like to share with you Poetry in Action. For the past 18 years we have toured perform across the country, reaching nearly 600 schools and over 75,000 students a year. This community-based program aims to bring the transformative power of poetry and performance to the forefront, providing a platform for youth to express themselves, develop confidence, and engage with their communities.
What is Poetry in Action?
Poetry in Action is a dynamic initiative that combines poetry performances, workshops, and poetry competitions to create a supportive and inclusive space for young people to explore their creativity and voice. Through engaging activities and mentorship, participants will have the opportunity to develop valuable skills, build meaningful connections, and unlock their full potential.
Why Poetry in Action?
We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their voice and express themselves authentically. Unfortunately, many youth in the Kyogle Council area may not have access to the resources or support systems needed to nurture their creative talents. Poetry in Action seeks to address this gap by providing a platform where youth can shine and thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
How Does it Work?
Poetry in Action will host a series of workshops and performances, open to youth from all walks of life in the Kyogle Council area. These sessions will be facilitated by experienced poets, performers, and mentors who are passionate about empowering young people through the arts. Participants will have the opportunity to view live theatre, learn new skills, share their stories, and connect with like-minded peers in a supportive and encouraging environment.
